RENDEZVOUS ISTANBUL IS PREPARING TO MEET WITH TURKEY IN ITS 23rd YEAR

Rendezvous Istanbul International Film Festival, organized by the TÜRSAK (Turkish Foundation of Cinema And Audiovisual Culture) with the contributions of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is preparing to meet with cinema lovers online with all film screenings and events because of the pandemic conditions in its 23rd year. For the first time in the history of the Festival, film screenings and festival events will be available online to be followed by all cinema lovers in Turkey.

This year’s Festival includes the following sections: “Look England, See the World,” “A Glimpse of Turkish Cinema,” and “Shorts from Future Filmmakers.” The last one includes films that gained support from another competition of TURSAK named Future Filmmakers. This year, the Festival also has a section called “Shorts from England” supported by the British Council, Britain’s international organization responsible for cultural relations and educational opportunities and celebrating its 80th anniversary in Turkey.

This Year’s Focus Country is “UK”

Rendezvous Istanbul International Film Festival, which hosts the cinema and cinema sector of a different country every year and aims to develop cultural and sectoral sharing and cooperation between countries, will celebrate its 23rd anniversary this year. UK will be the guest country of this year’s Festival will be held online between 17-23 December 2020 and focusing on one country each year to increase international relations. English and Turkish feature and short films will be shown online, and interviews and questions & answers with the film crews on the social media accounts of the Foundation.

Industry Professionals Will Get Together at Panel and Industry Meetings

This year’s international partner of the Festival has been designated: PACT (Cinema and Television Producers Association). Panels, industry meetings, and talks will be held within the scope of the Festival. England and Turkey’s leading industry professionals will discuss issues on the agenda in this event come together. Also, topics like “Filming in Turkey” and co-production opportunities will be addressed.

Due to the pandemic conditions, events will be online and open to all cinema lovers in Turkey. Panels and interviews will be available on the social media accounts and YouTube channel of the TÜRSAK Foundation.
